Recently, a serial seminar about realization of supporting technology for PV grid connection at an equal price proposed in the 13th five-year-plan held by PPTV (PVthink-tank) in Beijing. This meeting focuses on sharing technologies of components and every links, discussing together how to enhance the power generation capacity of PV system, how to reduce cost per KW hour, and how to secure the safety of power station. Longi was the only manufacturing company of silicon materials who has been invited.
Deputy Secretary-General of China PV Industry Association, WANG Shijiang delivered a speech for this seminar. He said, the technological advancement will the main channel for PV industry to reduce costs and enhance product competitiveness. Today, in the industry, new crafts and new technologies emerge in an endless stream, and the industrialization speed up. WANG Shijiang predicts, the cost of power generation is expected to drop from 0.8 yuan/KWh to 0.6 yuan/KWh in 2020 and it achieves the flat rate on the user-side.
During the seminar, ZHOU Rui, R&D manager from Longi R&D center claims that in order to realized low cost per KWh without extra funding, the key point are, first, system cost including components, brackets, land and so on; second, power generation capacity at the same rate of work; third, the long-term stability of the system including function duration and attenuation rate.
●Among them, the system cost has close relation with manufacturing cost and transformation efficiency. As we all know, with regard to transformation efficiency, mono-crystalline has more advantages than polycrystalline. In future, with the advancement of technology, the transformation efficiency will continuously increase and contributes more in reducing costs. Nowadays, the manufacturing cost of mono-crystalline wafers has already been close to polycrystalline, and the prices of transforming into components has already been very low. As a result the cost performance is outstanding, which helps further increase the market shares of mono-crystalline. The cost of N type mono-crystalline has the biggest dropped. The company will continue to study on the quality and hope to support the application of high-efficient solar cells.
●With regard to power generation capacity, because the working temperature of mono-crystalline is low; its mechanical strength is good; response to weak light is good, and its transmission loss is low, choosing mono-crystalline will make a power station generate more power than stations with the same installed capacity.
●With regard to long-term system stability, mono-crystalline is the only technology that has been verified by a long use of more than 25 years. By using N type silicon wafers with phosphor, changing P type dopant, improving the quality of mono-crystalline ingots and reducing oxygen content, the power generation capacity of mono-crystalline during these 25 years are 3% higher than polycrystalline.
As the largest supplier of high-efficient mono-crystalline products in the world, Longi has always been technology-innovation-orientated and continues to invest a lot on R&D, which makes the prices of mono-crystalline wafers go down quickly. Now the price differences between mono-crystalline wafers and polycrsytalline wafers are from 2 yuan in 2013 to less than 0.5 yuan .Not only at the system end, the investment of mono-crystalline is lower, at the battery component links, mono-crystalline has become the product with higher profits. We can say high-efficient mono-crystalline has promoted the early arrival of a flat-rate era of PV Generation.
In the future, Longi will continue to increase the investment on innovation, reduce the costs, secure the high-profit advantages of mono-crystalline roadmap, and contributes firmly to an early realization of the flat-rate gird connection.
